Thanks for checking out the Invigorate Massage and Wellness blog. Why don’t I tell you a little about myself?
My name is Chloe Dean, and I’m a Registered Massage Therapist in the state of Colorado. When I was just a young kid, my mom had (and, well, still has) a lot of back problems: scoliosis, 3 bulging discs in her low back and neck, and debilitating back spasms that would drop her to the floor and leave her unable to climb the stairs in our house for days. So I started giving her “massages”, although of course my knowledge and skills were pretty lacking. I started to recognize the difference between relaxed and tight muscles, and find the perfect spots I could press that helped her pain disappear; after all, I just enjoyed helping her feel a little better.
Flash forward to the end of high school.
While most of the kids around me seemed to know where they wanted to go in life, or at the very least what college they wanted to attend, I had no clue. I hadn’t even applied to a single university or community college. I spent the first eight months after graduation doing mostly nothing, aside from a part time job at a party store. Then, one day in February I made a very sudden decision.
“I’ll go to massage school.”
I drove down the street to my local massage school, was given a tour, and signed up that day. My original plan was to go through massage school, so I could have a decent paying job while I worked my way through college…finding out what I wanted to do eventually.
But when classes started that next month, I suddenly fell very much in love with massage. This wasn’t just a starter job. This was a career. More than that, it became my raison d’etre.
It’s been nearly four years since that day I decided to go to massage school, and since then I’ve worked with several chiropractors, a corporate massage chain, performed on-site chair massage and marketing, and even went to work for the weekend clinic at the very massage school I graduated from. I’ve given thousands of massages. I really, really love what I do.
So I’m starting this amazing new venture: Invigorate Massage and Wellness, my own private practice located in downtown Denver. I’m gearing up right now–creating business and marketing plans, designing logos, creating social networks, and getting ready for an early 2013 launch. Stay tuned, y’all!
